Raya Abu-Zahra, DDS
Dr. Raya Abu-Zahra completed her Bachelor of Science in Brain, Behavior, and Cognitive Science at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor with honors. She was awarded a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. While in dental school, she served as chapter president of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. This fueled her passion for pediatric dental care and she received her certificate as a Pediatric Dental Specialist from the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin Pediatric Dentistry Residency Program. She is thankful for the valuable knowledge and experience she obtained in treating children and patients with special health care needs, and is proud to have spent a significant amount of time both in dental school and in residency completing research with a focus on patients with special health care needs.
Dr. Raya is a firm believer in serving others locally and internationally, and has traveled to Guatemala to provide dental care to those in need. She volunteers for Special Olympics, free Saturday Dental Clinics, and the “Give Kids a Smile” Event.
Dr. Raya is fluent in English and Arabic. She is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Dental Association, and the New York State Dental Association. She is also certified in CPR and Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and is compliant with Infection Control Practices, OSHA, and HIPAA regulations.
In her spare time, Dr. Raya can be found spending time with her husband, family, and friends. Not only does she enjoy exploring new restaurants and events in New York City, she also enjoys traveling, cooking, biking, reading, and volunteering.
